EXPERIENCES
The World's Premier Dive Destination
The Maldives consistently ranks as the world's top dive destination, not for one site, but for the extraordinary diversity of encounters across 13 inhabited atolls and over 1,000 individual reef systems. No other destination offers the same combination of large pelagic species, pristine coral walls, strong drift dives, and year-round warm waters.
From the whale sharks of South Ari to the tiger sharks of Huvadhoo and the manta cleaning stations of Baa, the destination has something for every level, if the itinerary is matched correctly to the diver.

Dive Conditions
Water Temperature
27 to 30°C year-round. A 3mm wetsuit is comfortable for most divers. A 5mm wetsuit is recommended for multiple daily dives or for thermocline dives below 25 metres.
Visibility
Dry season (November to April): 20 to 30 metres in most atolls. Wet season (May to October): 10 to 20 metres in central atolls, 15 to 25 metres in northern atolls.
Currents
The Maldives is a drift dive destination. Currents can be strong - 2 to 3 knots on channel dives and are responsible for funnelling the nutrient-rich water that attracts large pelagics.
Depth Range
Reef dives: 5 to 25 metres. Thila (submerged pinnacle) dives: 15 to 35 metres. Pelagic channel dives: 20 to 40 metres. Technical dives: 40 metres+.

The TSC Dive Planning Approach
Most operators selling dive trips offer a fixed package, same atoll for everyone regardless of level or target species. The result is a beginner in a current-swept channel site they are not ready for, or an expert in a resort with a shallow house reef.
We match the diver to the destination. At enquiry, we ask for certification level, logged dives, target species, and dates. We recommend the atoll and resort that maximises the underwater experience for that specific profile.
